Some many years ago, on the 31st December 2009, I was sitting in the garage of a rented house located in the outskirts out Brisbane, Australia. Together with my husband, and my dear friend, Jon, we were just chilling and I was trying to figure out what to name my blog. How the part when spoilt came about was, I used to be a spoil brat and my husband suggested I should put the name since I’m “spoilt”. During that time, I had my laptop and my new 1TB hard disk near me, and that time 1 Terabyte is one of those biggest hard disk spaces you can get. So I tried to merge Spoilt + Bytes which sounds like Spoil brat. I like bytes because it represents the other part of me which digital space holds a big part of my life.
My life in general
I live in Singapore, and recently got my new apartment. I’m happily married to my dearest husband whom I dated for 6 years before we got married. I have an average height little sister, a tall little brother, a mom who is crazy over oranges and a dad with a whole head of white hair (and I’m the suspect for the cause of it). Recently I got two new family members into my house, which is my two pretty ragdolls, they are quite a handful.
I love quotes, and I have tons to share in most of my posts but one the quotes that is constantly on my mind would be this: “It is more blessed to give than to receive”.
What I do
When I was 7, I told my parents I wanted to be a designer. To them designer = artist which means no good, you won’t earn a lot of money. In the past, art class is the last class in my school. So in order to get in the art classes, I have to manipulate my results to just barely make it so my parents have no choice but to accept the reality.
Now, having work for almost 8 years. I’m an art director working for advertising agencies. I believe in designing for a purpose and not just for the sake of making something look beautiful. A lot of my time is spent on social media to understand new ways of communicating to different audiences. Recently, I have set up a company called actseed.co to do social good projects so stay tune for more updates on that!
Traveling is part of my life
I love traveling, I love going for plane rides. I ever sat on the first class seat to Tokyo once but has never tried business class ever. My husband has a soft spot for luxury hotels so I get enjoy the benefits of it and because of that I get to review all these places on Tripadvisor. I like doing reviews for hotels and coming up with designed itineraries for places I visit.
My places I have travelled and love very much:
Iceland – I would love to go back there for just 2 weeks straight during summer
Taiwan – my dad is from Taiwan so I’m biased
Stockholm – I like how the city is super designed based
