Ichiran Ramen (Tokyo)

This is one of the most raved ramen when I did a search for what ramen to eat in Tokyo. My flight was an early morning flight so by the time I reached Tokyo it was already late afternoon into the evening. The weather was rainy and chilly so I wanted to have a bowl of hot ramen to kickstart my food tour in Japan.

So I search on google for best ramen in Tokyo, Ichiran came up in one of the searches and they have quite a number of outlets. We went to the Shibuya branch nearer to our Airbnb and by the time we reached there, there was already a queue.

We ordered what we want through this vending machine, with the help of pictures! I ordered a ramen, tamago, green tea dessert and a tea. After ordering they will pass you a slip of paper to fill in for you to customize your ramen, if you want to have it with more garlic, spicy level, with spring onions or not and noodle texture.

When it’s our turn, each of us will go into this booth to have our ramen served to us. This is my first time eating in a booth, loving the experience that I don’t have to interact with anyone other than peeking over to the next booth to see what my husband is eating.

The tamago is served separately from the noodles, taste super yummy if you add salt for the extra flavor.

For the tea, it’s like oolong. I usually like to have my tea after ramen to complete my meal.

And lastly, this dessert is super rich with matcha. You got to mix it else the taste would be too overwhelming. Because it’s so good I had it twice in Tokyo and Kyoto before I come back. They have quite a few outlets around and best part is that they open 24hrs. I strongly recommend that you try this at least once!
